     The UB-46 UB-II-class German submarine
     in Bosphorus 1916

The UB-46 was a German submarine of the UB II class: she was built in Bremen by A.G.Weser during 1915 and launched during 1916.

The submarines of the UB II class were small coastal vessels, 36.13m long; displacement 263 tons (surfaced) 292 tons (submerged); max speed 9.2kn (surfaced) 5.8kn (submerged); two 533mm torpedo launchers, one 88mm gun. They were designed to dive down to 50m.

I sommergibili della Classe UB II erano piccoli battelli costieri, lunghi 36.13m; dislocamento 236 tonnellate (in emersione) e 292 tonnellate (in immersione); velocità massima 9.2 nodi (in emersione) e 5.8 nodi (in immersione); erano armati con due tubi lanciasiluri da 533mm e di un cannone da 88mm; erano progettati per potersi immergere fino a -50m.

The UB-46 was based in Pula since June to October 1916, then she moved to Costantinople: she sank four enemy ships during five patrols. 
On December 7, 1916, the UB-46 collided with a floating mine in the Bosphorus, and rapidly sank. No one of the 20-men crew could be saved.

L' UB-46 fu destinato alla base di Pola a partire dal Giugno 1916, e in seguito fu spostato a Costantinopoli: effettuò cinque missioni, durante le quali affondò quattro navi nemiche.
Il 7 Dicembre 1916 entrò in collisione con una mina galleggiante nel Bosforo, e affondò rapidamente. Nessuno dei 20 uomini dell'equipaggio potè essere salvato.
