    The FFL Lèopard  French large destroyer

The FFL Lèopard was a Chacal-class French large destroyer, bulit during 1923, and launched during 1924.

On July 3, 1940, the Leopard was seized in Portsmouth by the Royal Navy. Just two months later, on August 31, she was transferred to the Free French Navy, and since then served as escort for the convoys from Canada to Europe. 

Il 3 Giugno1940 il Lèopard fu catturato ed annesso alla Royal Navy a Portsmouth. Solo due mesi pù tardi, il 31 Agosto, fu traferito alla Marina della Francia Libera, e da allora servì nella scorta ai convogli tra il Canada e l'Europa.

On July 11, 1942, wen she was cruising in Central Atlantic West of Madeira together with the British frigate HMS Spey and the sloop HMS Pelican, the FFL Lèopard depth charged and sank the German submarine U-136.

Then the FFL Lèopard moved in Mediterranean. On May 27, 1943, she was cruising Norh to Benghazi when, probably afer a navigation mistake, the FFL Lèopard grounded and irrimediably wrecked.
The hull was sabotated and definitively destroyed a month later, on June 19, 1943.

In seguito, l' FF Lèopard fu trasferito in Mediterraneo. Il 27 Maggio 1943, stava incrociando a Nord di Bengasi quando, probabilmente a causa di un errore di navigazione, l' FFL Lèopard si incagliò e fece irrimediabilmente nauragio.
