The HMS Manchester was a Southampton-class British light cruiser, bulit during 1936, and launched during 1937.

On August 13, 1942, the HMS Manchester was cruising in Central Mediterranean off the coasts of Cape Bon. 
Here she was spotted and torpedoed by the Italian motorboats MAS 16 and MAS 22.
The HMS Manchester was hit by a single torpedo, but the hull was so badly damaged that the cruiser sank four miles North of Kelibia (Cape Bon).
150 men of the crew died or were missing.

Il 13 Agosto 1942 l' HMS Manchester stava navigando nel Mediterraneo Centrale al largo delle costa di Capo Bon.
Qui fiu individuato e attaccato dalle motosiluranti Italiane MAS 16 e MAS 22, che lanciarono i loro siluri nonostante la sproporzione delle forze.
L' HMS Manchester fu colpito da un solo siluro, ma riportò danni così seri che affondò quattro miglia a nord di Kelibia (Capo Bon).
150 uomini dell'equipaggio morirono o furono dati per dispersi.
