    The HMS Cairo British anti-aircraft cruiser
    North of Bizerta 1942

 

The HMS Cairo was a C-class British light cruiser, bulit in Birkenhead by Cammell Laird Shipyard during 1917, and launched during 1918.

L' HMS Cairo era un incrociatore leggero Britannico della Classe C, costruito a Birkenhead nei cantieri Cammell Laird Shipyard nel corso del 1917, e varato nel 1918.

She was transformed in anti aircraft cruiser in Chatham Dockyards between 1938 and 1939.

Tra il 1938 ed il 1939 fu sottoposto a lavori nei cantieri Chatham Dockyards, pe essere trasformato in incrociatore antaereo.

On August 12, 1942, the HMS Cairo was cruising in Central Mediterranean off the coasts of Tunisia. 
Here she was spotted and torpedoed by the Italian submarine Axum.
The HMS Cairo was hit by a single torpedo, but she was so badly damaged thet she sank after a few hours, when she was North of Bizerta.

Il 12 Agosto 1942, l' HMS Cairo stava navigando nel mediterraneo Centrale al largo delle coste Tunisine.
Qui fu scoperto e silurato dal sottomarino Italiano Axum:
L'incrociatore Britannico fu colpito da un solo siluro, ma subì danni così seri che affondò dopo poche ore, a Nord di Biserta.
