    The Roman trade vessel of Mahdia
    II-I Century B.C

The ancient Ship of Mahdia was a large Roman trade vessel carrying a cargo of marbles and sculptures, sunk near Mahdia possibly between the end of the II and  the beginning of the I Century B.C. The hull is about 40m long, and lies at a depth of -39m: it was discovered by a sponge diver during 1907. 

L'antica Nave di Mahdia era una grande nave commerciale Romana, che portava un carico di marmi e sculture, affondato presso Mahdia probabilmente tra la fine del II e l'inizio del I Secolo A.C.
Lo scafo è lungo circa 40m, e giace ad una profondità di -39m: è stato scoperto da un pescatore di spugne nel 1907.

Several archaeological campaigns have been brought on from the discovery of the wreck to present days, and a very large amount of precious findings have been recovered. 
Now they are exposed in the Archaeological Museum in Tunis.

Numerose campagne archeologiche sono state intraprese dall'epoca della scoperta fino al giorno d'oggi, e moltissimi sono i preziosi oggetti che ne sono stati recuperati: ora sono esposti al Museo Archeologico di Tunisi.
