    The LST 349 near Ponza Island 1943

The LST 349 was a British Landing Ship Tank sunk near Punta Papa in Ponza Island during February 26, 1943, in consequence of adverse weather conditions.

Il mezzo da sbarco carri Britannico LST 349 affondò presso Punta Papa sull'Isola di Ponza il 26 Febbraio 1943, a causa di avverse condizioni meteorologiche.

The stern section was broken off completely, but the bow is in good conditions, and the machine guns are still in place. The wreck lies on a sandy bottom at a depth comprised between -18m and -26m.

La sezione di poppa fu completamente divelta dello scafo, ma la prua è in buone condizioni, e le mitragliere sono ancora in postazione nelle loro piazzole. Il relitto giace su un fondo sabbioso ad una profondità che va dai -18m ed i -26m.
