    The Roman vessel of Procchio (Elba Island)

Tha ancient Ship of Procchio was a Roman trade vessel carrying a cargo of wine mostly in Dressel 14 amphorae (some of them were still sealed) and pottery (left), sunk on the shore of the Gulf of  Procchio (Elba Island) during the Second Century A.D.

L'antica Nave di Procchio era una nave oneraria Romana che portava un carico di vino per lo più in anfore tipo Dressel 14 (alcune di esse sono state recuperate ancora sigillate), esemplari di ceramica ed anforischi (a sinistra), affondato nel Golfo di Procchio sull'Isola d'Elba nel corso del Secondo secolo D.C.

Among many other objects, an ivory statuette and a perfectly preserved rope (right) were recovered from the wreck. The hull was about 20m long, with a capaciyt of 2000 amphorae, and was found on a sandy bottom at a depth of just -2m: the cargo was probably recovered after the sinking.

Tra molti altri oggetti recuperati dal relitto, perticolarmente notevoli sono una cima perfettamente conservata ed ancora bene addugliata (a destra) ed una statuetta in avorio. Lo scafo era lungo circa 20m, con una capacità di circa 2000 anfore, ed è stato trovato ad una profondità di soli 2m: il caricofu probabilmente recuperato dopo l'affondamento.
