The ancient Ship of the Secca dei Mattoni was a Roman trade vessel, about 30m long, carrying a cargo of wine in nearly 8-10 thousand Dressel 1 amphorae (left) and Campanian pottery, sunk off the dangerous Secca dei Mattoni near Ponza Island during the first Century B.C.

L'antica Nave della Secca dei Mattoni era una nave oneraria Romana, lunga circa 30m, che portava un carico di vino in circa otto o diecimila anfore tipo Dressel 1 (a sinistra) insieme ad esemplari di ceramica Campana, affondato presso la pericolosa Secca dei Mattoni presso l'Isola di Ponza nel corso del I Secolo A.C.

Some amphorae were still sealed, and a certain amount of straw was found between them, probably a protection against brakage. 
The hull lies at a depth of more than -30m.

Alcune anfore sono state trovate ancora sigillate, con una certa quantità di fieno tra l'una e l'altra, probabilmente una protezione per evitare rotture indesiderate.
