The
Adua Italian submarine
L' Adua era un sommergibile Italiano della Classe 600, serie "Adua" detta anche "serie Africana": fu costruito e varato a Monfalcone nei cantieri CRDA nel corso del 1936.. . The Adua operated 16 missions during the II WW. L' Adua operò 16 missioni nel corso della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. On September 30, 1941, the Adua was cruising off Cape Palos, North of Cartagena, when she spotted a flotilla of 11 Allied destroyers: it was a part of the convoy Halbert, coming from Gibraltar and directed to Alexandria (Egypt). The Italian submarine bravely launched four torpedoes, signaled the contact to her base, then disappeared. The Allied in turn spotted the submarine, and two of them, the HMS Gurkha and the HMS Legion, attacked and sank the Adua by depth charges. Il 30 Settembre 1941, l' Adua stava in agguato al largo di Capo Palos, a nord di Cartagena, quando avvistò una flottiglia di 11 cacciatorpediniere Alleati: erano parte del convoglio Halbert, proveniente da Gibilterra e diretto ad Alessandria d'Egitto. Il sommergibile Italiano lanciò coraggiosamente quattro siluri, trasmise alla base il segnale di contatto, poi scomparve. A loro volta gli Alleati localizzarono il sommergibile, e due di loro, l' HMS Gurkha e l' HMS Legion, attaccarono ed affondarono l' Adua con bombe di profondità.
