    The Bengala steam cargo 
    near Capo Rizzuto seiche 1889

The Bengala was an Italian steamship carrying a cargo of vintage Porto wine in bottles, that sunk after the collision with the dangerous Capo Rizzuto seiche during 1889. 

Il Bengala era una nave da trasporto a vapore, che trasportava un carico di vino di Porto invecchiato, affondata dopo aver cozzato contro la insidiosa secca di Capo Rizzuto nel 1889.

The hull is broken in two parts, now in poor conditions, that lie on a sandy bottom with scattered rocks, at a depth of less then -30m: the rudder and the propeller (above), anyway, are still in place, as part of the steam engine (right). 
A few bottles, remains of the precious cargo, can be found scattered around the wreck.

Lo scafo è spezzato in due segmenti, che sono in cattive condizioni, e giacciono su un fondale sabbioso cosparso di scogli, ad una profondità di quasi -30m; il timone e l'elica (sopra) sono ancora al loro posto, come alcune parti della macchina a vapore (a sinistra).
Poche bottiglie, resti del carico prezioso, sono sparse sulla sabbia intorno al relitto.
