. The ancient ship known as the "wreck of Porticello" was a small Greek-Italic trade vessel, 15m long, sunk in Porticello Bay (Villa S, Giovanni) at the Norhern entrance of the Straits of Messina. . L'antica nave nota come il "relitto di Porticello" era una piccola nave commerciale da carico, lungo circa 15m, affondato nella Baia di Porticello all'ingresso Settentrionale dello Stretto di Messina. Some Greek objects, lead anchors and
amphorae have been stolen from the wreck. Some bronzes, illegally exported, are now exposed in
foreign Museums. Alcuni oggetti
di origine Greca, ancore in piombo ed anfore sono state rubate dal
relitto. Alcuni bronzi, esportati illegalmente, sono oggi esposti in Musei
esteri. A beautiful bronze head known as "the Porticello philosopher" (above) is now exposed in the Museo della Magna Grecia in Reggio Calabria. The hull lies at a depth of -35m, 150m from the coast. Una magnifica
