    The Roman vessel of Isola Mal di Ventre 
    ("the thousand ingots wreck")

The Ship of Mal di Ventre was a large Roman trade vessel, about 36m long, carrying from Spain an extraordinary cargo of 33 tons of lead ingots (right), engraved with the name of the producer.

La Nave di Mal di Ventre (conosciuta anche come la Nave dei Mille Lingotti) era una grande nave da carico Romana, lunga circa 36m, che trasportava dalla Spagna uno straordinario carico di circa 33 tonnellate di  lingotti di piombo (a destra) che portavano impresso il nome del produtore.

She sank near Mal di Ventre Island between 50 and 70 B.C. 
Three large lead anchor stocks, together with two smaller ones, were recovered from the stern, while an enormous iron anchor was placed on the bow. 

Affondò presso l'Isola di Mal di Ventre tra il 50 ed il 70 A.C.
Tre grandi ancore con contromarra in piombo, insieme a due più piccole, sono state recuperate dalla prua del relitto, mentre una enorme ancora da tonneggio in ferro era stata collocata sulla poppa.

Some glasses, a few Dressel 1 amphorae (left) and some samples of low quality pottery have been recovered from the hull, that lies at a depth of about -36m: the Ship of Mal di Ventre is probably the largest known wreck of Roman Age carrying this kind of cargo.

Alcuni pezzi di vetreria, poche anfore vinarie Italiche di tipo Dressel 1 (a sinistra) ed alcuni esemplari di ceramica di bassa qualità sono stati recuperati dallo scafo, che giace ad una profondità di circa -36m: la nave di Mal di Ventre è probabilmente il più grande relitto conosciuto di epoca Romana con questo tipo di carico.

Many ancient findings of different nature have been found scattered on the sea bottom around Mal di Ventre Island, that was probably on a main route between Spain and Italy.

Molti reperti antichi di diversa natura sono stati trovati sparsi sul fondo marino intorno all' Isola di Mal di Ventre, che era probabilmente sul una rotta di primaria importanza tra la Spagna e l'Italia.
