    The Roman vessel of Capo Testa

The Ship of Capo Testa was a Roman trade vessel, about 20m long, carrying a cargo of iron and lead ingots (left): she sank near Capo Testa (East of Bocche di Bonifacio) during the first Century B.C.

La Nave di Capo Testa era una nave da carico commerciale Romana, lunga circa 20m, che trasportava un carico di ferro e piombo in lingotti (a sinistra): era affondata presso Capo Testa (ad Est delle Bocche di Bonifacio) nel corso del Primo Secolo A.C.

The lead ingots are engraved with the name of the producer, and provided with a handle: they are similar to those recovered from the Arbatax wreck (Sardinia) and from the Port Vendres II wreck (France): they are of Spanish origin, about 40 B.C.  

I lingotti di piombo recano a rilievo il nome del produttore, e sono provvisti di una sottile maniglia: sono simili a quelli recuperati dal relitto di Arbatax (sardegna) e dal relitto di Port Vendres II (Francia): sono di produzione Spagnola, databili circa 40 A.C.

An iron anchor, and two lead ones, have been recovered from the hull, that lies on a rocky bottom at a depth of about -28m, 500m off the coast.

Un'ancora in ferro e due in piombo sono state recuperate dallo scafo, che giace su un fondo roccioso ad una profondità di circa -28m, a 500m dalla costa.
