The Roman vessels
of Costa Rey
. Two ancient ships have been discovered on the seabottom off Costa Rey: they are both Roman trade vessels, sunk near Punta Santa Giusta (Costa Rey) in different occasions during the first Century B.C. . Due navi antiche sono state scoperte sul fondo del mare al largo di Costa Rey: erntrambe erano navi da carico Romane, affondate presso Punta Santa Giusta (Costa Rey) in differenti occasioni nel corso del Primo Secolo A.C.
The first one was carrying a large cargo of imbrices (tiles, above); the second, wine in Dressel 1 amphorae (left): many fragments of the hulls have been recovered from the sandy bottom at a depth of about -5m. . La prima trasportava un ingente carico di imbrices (tegole, sopra); la seconda, vino in anfore tipo Dressel 1 (a sinistra): molti frammenti degli scafi sono stati recuperati dal fondo sabbioso, ad una profondità di circa -5m. . |
