    The HMS Quail British Q-class destroyer
    off Gallipoli 1944

 

The HMS Quail  was a Q-class British destroyer, built in Hebburn-on-Tyne by Hawthorn Leslie & Co. during 1940-41, and launched during 1942.

L' HMS Quail era un cacciatorpediniere Britannico della Classe Q, costruito a Hebburn-on-Tyne dai cantieri Hawthorn Leslie & Co. nel corso del 1940-41, e varato nel 1942.

On June 18, 1944, the HMS Quail was cruising in Ionian Sea, when she collided with a floating mine.
Se suffered heavy damages, and was taken in tow heading to the allied Italian base of Taranto. 
But the hull was so damaged that the HMS Quail sank off Gallipoli.

Il 18 Giugno 1944, l' HMS Quail stava icrociando nel mar Ionio, quando entrò in collisione con una mina galleggiante.
Il cacciatorpediniere subì gravi danni, e fu preso a romorchio per raggiungere la base Italiana alleata di Taranto.
Ma lo scafo era talmente danneggiato che l' HMS Quail affondò al largo di Gallipoli.
