The HMS Southwold  was a Hunt-class British destroyer, built in Cowes by J.S.White & Co. during 1940 and launched during 1941.

On March 24, 1942, the HMS Southwold was cruising off Malta when she collided with an Italian floating mine.
The British destroyer suffered severe damages, and sank off La Valletta harbour.
