    The HMS Legion  British L-class destroyer
    at La Valletta 1942

The HMS Legion  was a British L-class destroyer, built in Hebburn-on-Tyne by Hawthorn Leslie & Co. during 1938 and launched during 1939.

On September 30, 1941, the HMS Gurkha and the HMS Legion, attacked and sank the Italian submarine Adua North of Cartagena (Spain).

On November 13, 1941, the HMS Legion rescued part of the crew of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal  that was sinking South of Mallorca after she was torpedoed by the German submarine U-81.

On December 13, 1941, the Allied destroyers HMS Legion, HMS Sikh, HMS Maori and HNMS Isaac Sweers sank by torpedoes the Italian cruisers Alberigo da Barbiano and Alberto di Giussano off Cape Bon (Tunisia).

On March 26, 1942, the HMS Legion was in La Valletta harbour: here she was sank during an aircraft bombing.
The hull was later raised.

Il 26 Marzo 1942 l' HMS Legion era nel porto di La Valletta: qui fu affondato nel corso di un bombardamento aereo.
Lo scafo fu in seguito recuperato.
