    The MV Odile at Karkara Reef 
    (off Grand Harbour, La Valletta) 1942

 

The Odile was an old steam-freighter that sank in course of a bombing attack on April 4, 1942 at Karkara reef, off Grand Harbour (La Valletta). 

L' Odile era una vecchia nave a vapore da trasporto, che affondò nel corso di un bombardamento aereo il 4 Aprile 1942 presso Karkara reef, al largo del Grand Harbour (La Valletta).

The wreck of the Odile was discovered in late Seventies, and thought to be the wreck of the HMS Abingdon. 
The hull is in poor conditions, because it was devastated by the explosions (the bow and the propellers are missing) and lies on its port side at a depth of about -45m.

Il relitto dell' Odile fu scoperto negli ultimi anni Settanta, e si pensò che lo scafo appartenesse ad un'altra nave, l' HMS Abingdon.
Lo scafo è in cattive condizioni, perchè fu devastato dalle esplosioni (l'intera prua è stata distrutta, e le eliche furono divelte), e giace sul fianco sinistro ad una profondità di -45m.
