The HMS Urge was a British submarine of the U-class: she was built in Barrow-in-Furness by Vicker Armstrong during 1939 and launched during 1940.

The HMH Urge operated in Mediterranean from the base of Malta.

On April 1, 1942, during a patrol off the Island of Stromboli (Northern Sicily), the HMS Urge torpedoed and sank the Italian cruiser Giovanni delle Bande Nere.

Il 1 Aprile 1942, nel corso di un pattugliamento al largo dell'Isola di Stromboli, l' HMS Urge silurò ed affondò l'incrociatore Italiano Giovanni delle Bande Nere.

A few days later, on April 27, 1942 the HMS Urge sailed from La Valletta heading to Alexandria (Egypt). 
But on April 29 she was spotted off Ras-el-Hilal (Lybia) by an Italian aircrat, that attacked and sank the submarine by depth charges.
The HMS Urge was lost with all hands.

Pochi giorni dopo, il 27 Aprile 1942, l' HMS Urge salpò dalla Valletta diretto ad Alessandria d'Egitto.
Ma il 29 Aprile fu avvistato al largo di Ras-el-Hilal (Libia) da un aereoplano Italiano, che attaccò ed afondò il sommergibile con un lancio di bombe di profondità.
L' HMS Urge andò perduto con tutto l'equipaggio.
