The HMS Auckland was an Egret-class British sloop, built in Dumbarton by William Denny and Bros. during 1937, and launched during 1938.

On June 24, 1941, when she was cruising in Central Mediterranean off the coasts of Eastern Libya, the HMS Auckland was spotted and bombed by a German aircraft: she was severely damaged by the bombs, and sank off Tobruk.
