    The HMS Airedale Hunt-class British destroyer
    North of Crete 1942

 

The HMS Airedale was an I-class British destroyer, built in Clydebank by John Brown Shipbuilding Company Ltd. during 1940 and launched during 1941.

Just after she was completed, the HMS Airedale moved in Mediterranean.

On June 15, 1942, she was spotted and attacked by some German Junkers Ju. 88 bombers. 
The HMS Airedale was so heavily damaged by the precise bombing, that she had to be scuttled South of Crete by the British destroyer HMS Aldenham.
