    The HMS Diamond British D-class destroyer

The HMS Diamond was a D-class British destroyer, built in Barrow by Vickers Armstrong during 1931, and launched during 1932.

At the beginning of the II World War, the HMS Diamond moved in Mediterranean, where she took part in the Battle of Crete.
During April, 1941, she was involved in the operations for the evacuation of Crete, and on April 26, she rescued over 600 troops.

All'inizio della II Guerra Mondiale, l' HMS Diamond fu destinato in Mediterraneo, dove prese parte alla Battaglia di Creta.

On April 28, just after she landed the British soldiers,  the HMS Diamond was spotted and attacked by some German Junkers Ju-87 Stuka dive bombers.
The precise bombing devastated the British destroyer, that rapidly sank.
Just a few men of the crew could be rescued, while 148 died or were missing.

Il 28 Aprile, dopo aver sbarcato i soldati Britannici, l' HMS Diamond fu avvistato ed attaccato da alcuni bombardieri in picchiata Junkers Ju 87 Stuka.
Il bombardamento devastò il cacciatorpediniere Britannico, che affondò rapidamente. Solo pochi uomini dell'equipaggio poterono essere salvati, ben 148 uomini risultarono morti o dispersi.
