    The U-133 German VII-C class submarine
    off Salamis 1942 

The U-133 was one of the successiful VII-C class German submarine, built in Bremen by Bremer Vulkan during 1940, and launched during 1941.

The submarines of the VII-C class were 67.10m long; displacement 769 tons (surfaced) 871 tons (submerged); max speed 17.7kn (surfaced) 7.5kn (submerged); five 533mm torpedo launchers; one 88mm gun, plus one or two 20mm or one 37mm machine gun. They were designed to dive down to -220m.

On January 17, 1942, the U-133 torpedoed and sank the British destroyer HMS Gurkha off Sidi Barrani (Egypt).

Il 17 Gennaio 1942, l' U-133 silurò ed affondò il cacciatorpediniere Britannico HMS Gurkha al largo di Sidi Barrani (Egitto).

On March 14, 1942, she left her base in Salamis. 
Maybe the U-133 didn't took the prescribed path, because just two hours after, she collided with a floating mine.
The U-133 sank rapidly, and no man of the crew could be rescued.

Forse l' U-133 non percorse la rotta prescritta, perchè solo due ore dopo la partenza, entrò in collisione con una mina galleggiante.
L' U-133 affondò rapidamente, e nessun uomo dell'equipaggio sopravvisse.
