    The Jean Luzon and St. Antoine barges
    near Anthéor 1944

The Jean Luzon and the St.Antoine were two river barges, carrying a cargo of guns and ammonitions for the German Army. 
During a trip from Marseille to Genoa on January 31, 1944, they were attacked by the British submarine HMS Untiring, that fired three torpedoes. 
The barges exploded and sank off Cap Roux, near Anthèor: one man of the crew died, seven were missing.

La Jean Luzon e la St.Antoine erano due bettoline fluviali, che trasportavano un carico di cannoni e munizioni per l' Esercito Tedesco.
Durante un viaggio tra Marsiglia e Genova, il 31 Gennaio 1944, furono attaccate dal sommergibile Britannico HMS Untiring, che lanciò contro di loro tre siluri. 
Le bettoline esplosero ed affondarono al largo di Cap Roux, presso Anthèor: un uomo morì, ed altri sette furono dati per dispersi.

The wrecks lie on a sandy bottom at a depth of about -30m. 
A massive stern (right) and a bow (above) lie close one to the other, surrounded by scattered remains: they do not belong to the same barge, but each of them are the only significant remain of a different ship: the explosion of the torpedoes and of the cargo was so violent to destroy the hulls. 
Now the wrecks are populated by an extraordinary number of moray eels.

I relitti giacciono su un fondale sabbioso ad una profondità di circa -30m.
Una prua imponente (a destra) ed una sezione di poppa (sopra) giacciono l'una vicina all'altra, circondate da rottami sparsi: non appartengono alla stessa imbarcazione, ma ognuna di esse è l'unica parte significativa rimasta di due bettoline diverse: le esplosioni dei siluri e del carico furono così violente da distruggere gli scafi.
Ora i relitti sono stati colonizzati da uno straordinario numero di murene e di gronghi curiosi.
