    The HMS Hermione Dido-class British light cruiser

The HMS Hermione was a Dido-class British light cruiser, built in Glasgow by A.Stephen & Sons during 1937, and launched during 1939.

L' HMS Hermione era un incrociatore leggero Britannico della Classe Dido, costruito a Glasgow nei cantieri A.Stephen & Sons nel corso del 1937-38, e varato nel 1939.

Since June 1941 the HMS Hermione escorted a number of convoys from Gibraltar to Malta.
On 2 Aug, 1941 she rammed the Italian submarine Tembien in the Straits of Sicily.
During May 1942 she escorted a convoy from Gibraltar to Durban (South Africa), and took part in the invasion of Madagascar.

A partire dal Giugno 1941 l' HMS Hermione fu impiegato nella scorta di numerosi convogli sulla rota tra Gibilterra e Malta.
Il 2 Agosto 1941 speronò il sommergibile  Italiano Tembien nello Stretto di Sicilia.
Nel Maggio 1942 scortò un convoglio da Gibilterra a Durban (Sud Africa) e prese parte all'invasione del Madagascar.

On June 16, 1942, the HMS Hermione was escorting a convoy from Alexandria to Malta.
When the convoy was North of Sollum, the German submarine U-205 torpedoed and sunk the British cruiser at 33°20'N, 26°00'E.
87 men of the British crew died or were missing.

Il 16 Giugno 1942, l' HMS Hermione stava scortando un convoglio tra Alessandria d'Egitto e Malta.
Quando il convoglio fu a Nord di Sollum, il sommergibile Tedesco U-205 silurò e affondò l'incrociatore Britannico a 33°20'N, 26°00'E.
67 uomini dell'equipaggio britannico morirono o furono dati per dispersi.
