The HMS Naiad Dido-class British light cruiser
    North of Sidi Barrani 1942

The HMS Naiad was a Dido-class British light cruiser, built in Hebburn-on-Tyne by Hawthorn Leslie & Co. during 1937, and launched during 1939.

.

On March 11, 1942, the HMS Naiad was cruising in Eastern Mediterranean off the coasts of Egypt.
Here the British cruiser was spotted by the German submarine U-565: the U-boote torpedoed and sank the HMS Naiad North of Sidi Barrani.
