    The HMS Calcutta C-class British anti-aircraft cruiser

The HMS Calcutta was a C-class British light cruiser, built in Barrow by Vickers Armstrong during 1917, and launched during 1918.
During 1938, she was converted in anti-aircraft cruiser in Chatham Dockyard.

L' HMS Calcutta era un incrociatore leggero Britannico della Classe C, costruito a Barrow dai cantieri Vickers Armstrong nel corso del 1917, e varato nel 1918.
Nel 1938, venne sottoposto a lavori presso Chatham Dockyard per trasformarlo in incrociatore antiaereo.

On June 1, 1941, during the operations for the defense of Crete, she was spotted off the coasts of Egypt by a German Junkers Ju 88 bomber.

Il 1 Giugno 1941, nel corso delle operazioni per la difesa di Creta, fu avvistato al largo delle coste Egiziane da un bombardiere Tedesco Junkers Ju 88.

Despite to her efficient anti-aircraft weapons, the HMS Calcutta  was damaged and sunk by two bombs North-West of Alexandria.

Nonostante il suo efficiente armamento anti-aereo, l' HMS Calcutta fu colpito e gravemente danneggiato da due bombe d'aereo, e affondō a Nord-Ovest di Alessandria d'Egitto.
