    The U-73 UE-I-class German submarine at Pula 1918

The U-73 was a German oceanic minelayer submarine of the UE-I class: she was built and launched in Danzig by Kaiserliche Werft during 1915.

The submarines of the UE-I class were 56.80m long; displacement 755 tons (surfaced) 832 tons (submerged); max speed 10.6kn (surfaced) 7.9kn (submerged); two 533mm torpedo launchers, 38 mines, one 105mm gun. They were designed to dive down to -50m.

I sommergibili della Classe UE-I erano lunghi 56.80m; dislocamento 755 tonnellate (in emersione) 832 tonnellate (in immersione); velocità massima 10.6 nodi (in emersione) 7.9 nodi (in immersione); due tubi lanciasiluri da 533mm, 38 mine, un cannone da 105mm. Erano progettati per immergersi fino a -50m.

The U-72 was based in Pula since April 1916, and operated two patrols, sinking sixteen enemy ships. 

L' U-72 fu destinato alla base di Pola nell'Aprile 1916, ed affondò 16 navi nemiche in due missioni.

At the end of the I WW, on November 1, 1918, she was scuttled at Pula during the evacuation.

Alla fine della l Guerra Mondiale, il 1 Novembre 1918, fu affondato dall'equipaggio a Pola, nel corso dell'evacuazione della base.
