Strombus periscus

The Family Strombidae is widely distributed in tropical seas, and includes many Species. The Family is closely related with the Aporrhaidae. 
The shells are often very large, and the striking form of the mouth, showing a large lip, often carrying finger-like extensions, is characteristic of the Family. The operculum is small.  

La Famiglia Strombidae è largamente distribuita in acque tropicali, e comprende molte Specie. La Famiglia è strettamente imparentata con le Aporrhaidae. 
Le conchiglie sono spesso molto grandi, e la vistosa forma dello stoma, che mostra un labbro largo e spesso, talvolta con propaggini a forma di dito, è caratteristica della Famiglia. L'opercolo ha dimensioni ridotte.
