Pirenidae

   
Columbella rustica
(Linnaeus, 1767)

The Family Pirenidae includes small Species with worldwide diffusion, very common in littoral environments: some fifteen Species are represented in Mediterranean, classified in three Genera. 
The Pirenidae have glossy, colorful shells, with very variable color patterns. The mouth is long and straight, with a corneous operculum.
