The Espadon-Tarzan Souplair has an interesting history: during the ' 60, a French producer of free-diving equipments decided to complete his catalogue with some regulators, and he asked to the biggest producer of his years: la Spirotechnique. The Souplair was, actually, the Spirotechnique Spiro 8: this was one of the first successiful double stage, single-hose regulators, equipped with a non-balanced piston first stage with pressure regulation. Simple, efficient and cheap, it had an exceptional commercial success, and was adopted by several Navies, including the French and the Yugoslavian.
