Hildenbrandia rubra  (Sommerfelt) Meneghini    (7cm)

Soft, smooth crust, very adhering to the substrate; a few cm to meters in diameter (fusion of several individuals, particularly in sea caves); deep orange red to brownish red. 
Tetrasporocysts in superficial niches. 
Perennial Species, found in shaded environments from one meter over the surface (even more in caves) down to a few cm. 
Worldwide diffused Species.

Tallo incrostante, soffice e liscio, molto aderente al substrato; diametro da pochi cm ad alcuni metri (per fusione di diversi individui, particolarmente in grotte marine); colore tra rosso-arancio carico a rosso brunastro.
Tetrasporocisti in nicchie superficiali.
Specie perennante, si trova in ambienti ombreggiati da un metro sopra la superficie (e anche più nelle grotte) fino a pochi cm di profondità.
Specie con diffusione mondiale.
