The Museum was founded in 1931, and illustrates the main fishing activity of the Algarve, the sardine industry. 
The collection of fishing equipments is particularly rich and valuable, and the exhibition is completed by a variety of navigation instruments, carpenter tools and models of boats and trawlers.  

Il Museo fu fondato nel 1931, e illustra la più importante attività di pesca dell'Algarve, la pesca delle sardine.
La collezione di attrezzi per la pesca è particolarmente ricca e interessante, e l'esposizione è completata da una varietà di strumenti di navigazione, attrezzi da carpenteria e modelli di imbarcazioni e di pescherecci.
