A section of the very interesting Archaeologic Museum is dedicated to the Punic ships, sunk in 265 B.C.during the war that opposed Rome to Carthago. The light and stretched shape of the hulls, and the absence of a commercial cargo suggest that it was a warship, about 35m long and 6m wide.

A remarkable part of the hull has been recovered and is now exposed in the Museum, together with  an anchor and a large number of objects used by the crew: pottery, ropes, weapons, bronze and iron nails, and a considerable amount of drug (Cannabis indica) probably used by soldiers during the battle.
