La tradizione vuole che Korcula (il nome veneziano ers Curzola) fu l'isola che diede i natali a Marco Polo: la casa della famiglia Polo sorge ancora al centro della cittą vecchia fortificata. Some halls of the Civic Museum are dedicated to Maritime History. The collection include carpenter tools, a beautiful reproduction of the ancient squero, the typical Venetian dockyard, paintings and ship models, many historical documents and a very interesting map of Dalmatian coasts and islands drawn by Coronelli (XVII Century A.D.)
