                Civic Museum - Korcula

Gabriellis Palace, IV.III Prekomotske Udar Brigade
                Korcula (Korcula Island)

The tradition says that Korcula (the Venetians said: Curzola) was the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous explorer: the House of Polo family still rise in the center of the old fortified Venetian town.

Some halls of the Civic Museum are dedicated to Maritime History. The collection include carpenter tools, a beautiful reproduction of the ancient squero, the typical Venetian dockyard, paintings and ship models, many historical documents and a very interesting map of Dalmatian coasts and islands drawn by Coronelli (XVII Century A.D.)
