Ciao, my name is Giammario: I dedicated this page to our Big Blue, the Mediterranean Sea. I studied Marine Biology in Pavia (Italy); in Roscoff and Banyuls s/m (France); and in the sweet Galway (Ireland) during a long, beautiful year. 
I'm a scuba diver, keen on the Mediterranean Sea and all its creatures.

Ciao. Mi chiamo Giammario. Ho dedicato queste pagine al nostro Grande Blu, il Mediterraneo. Ho studiato Biologia Marina a Pavia. Poi a Roscoff ed a Banyuls s/m, in Francia. Poi nella dolce Galway, in Irlanda, per un lungo, bellissimo anno.
Sono un subacqueo, e coltivo una grande passione per il Mediterraneo, la sua Storia e le sue creature.

   
Massimo is a Friend of mine. A very good diver. A very good guy. A creature of the Sea. He often comes with me in my metaphysical adventures: we think that the Sea, the Mediterranean, is a dimension of the soul, before than waves and winds.

Massimo è mio Amico. Un ottimo subacqueo. Una cara persona. Una creatura del Mare. Mi è spesso compagno di scorribande metafisiche: perchè il Mare, il Mediterraneo, è un luogo dell'anima pima che onde e venti.

Arianna has got the key of happiness. She struggled for years to get it. She is a brilliant Marine Biologist, PhD student in Barcelona University, and I'm so proud of her.

Arianna ha trovato le chiavi della felicità. Ha lottato per anni per averle. E' una brillante Biologa Marina, Dottoranda all' Università di Barcellona, e io sono così orgoglioso di lei.

Edo knows the name of any creature living, walking, flying, crawling or swimming under the sky, and even more: during his last passage in Africa, he found two unknown Species of frogs. 
Now he is the Curator of the Natural History Museum, and leads research expeditions in the region of Kilimanjaro, writing books about the African fauna.  
He is a very good friend of mine, the very man on whom you can rely if you need a trekker, a fisherman, a true expert of heavy-metal music or a good webmaster.

Edo conosce il nome di ogni creatura che viva, cammini, voli, strisci o nuoti sotto il cielo, e anche di più: nel corso del suo ultimo viaggio in Africa, ha scoperto due nuove Specie di rane.
Adesso è Curatore del Museo di Storia Naturale, guida spedizioni di ricerca nella zona del Kilimangiaro e dei Grandi Laghi, e scrive libri sulla Fauna Africana.
E' un vero amico, l'uomo giusto se cercate un vero esploratore, un pescatore, un esperto di musica heavy-metal o un buon webmaster.

   
Professor Menico Agostino Torchio tought me every single thing I know about Marine Biology. And gave me new eyes to look at the world. 
Former Curator of the Natural History Museum in Turin and Director of the Hydrobiological Station (the “Aquarium”) in Milan, Emeritus Professor of the University of Pavia, Menico Torchio had a brilliant personality, a volcanic character, a great soul. He was a Guide. And a Friend. 
He died just a few days before the publication of my page.

Il Professor Menico Agostini Torchio mi ha insegnato ogni singola cosa che conosco sulla Biologia Marina. E mi ha dato nuovi occhi per guardare al mondo. Ex Curatore del Museo di Storia Naturale di Torino e Direttore della Stazione Idrobiologica (l'"Acquario") di Milano, Professore Emerito dell'Università di Pavia, Menico Torchio aveva una personalità brillante, un carattere vulcanico, una grande anima. E' stato una Guida. E un Amico. 
E' morto qualche giorno prima della pubblicazione della mia pagina.
